Poly-Ply™ plastic wrapper consists of three membranes of .5-mil clear, 50 gauge, clear, polyvinylidene chloride plastic, high-cling membranes, wound together as a single sheet. It provides a mechanical and electrical barrier over Temcoat™ or #1 Wax-Tape® while remaining flexible enough to conform to irregular shaped surfaces. It is inert and will not deteriorate, and is resistant to chemicals and bacteria commonly found in soil.

End Use

As a wrapper over cold-applied Temcoat coating on straight pipe and irregular metal surfaces, such as T's and Couplings.

Application Procedures

Pre-apply Temcoat coating and wrap form Poly-Ply wrapper over the coated surface.

Innercoat® is a blend of microcrystalline waxes designed to provide the most desirable corrosion resistance, adhesion and wetting characteristics. It is hot-applied directly to the pipe surface and is always over-wrapped with a proper Trenton wrapper depending on the type of application. Its ease of application and “forgiving” character in difficult applications make it an ideal all-purpose pipe coating.

End Use

To protect straight pipe or irregular metal surfaces from corrosion. It can be used for new services, field patching, weld cutbacks and pipeline reconditioning.

Application Procedures

Clean pipe surface free of loose rust and scale, loose coating, dirt, grease, moisture and other foreign matter. Heat Innercoat to between 250° and 350°F in summer and between 350° and 500°F in winter to ensure proper adhesion. Then pour or brush Innercoat directly onto the clean and dry surface. For straight pipe use the “granny rag” method. Once Innercoat is applied, wrap with Guard-Wrap™. A thin coating of Innercoat can then be applied over the Guard-Wrap for additional protection.

Flange filling is the process of pouring hot Innercoat between the flange faces to prevent corrosion.

  1. Heat Innercoat® in pail to 200°F using thermometer to monitor temperature. Once temperature is achieved, reduce heat and maintain temperature.
  2. Wrap flange gap with duct tape (two wraps). Make a hole in the top for inserting the funnel.
  3. Pour Innercoat through the funnel slowly and continuously until the Innercoat has fully filled the flange gap. The level of Innercoat will decrease as it fills the voids in the flange. Continue to top-off flange gap until the level of Innercoat no longer decreases.
  4. After the flange gap has been completely filled, allow 20 to 30 minutes cooling time and remove the duct tape.
  5. If an overwrap is desired after removal of the duct tape, use Trenton #1 Wax-Tape® (for below ground) or #2 Wax-Tape® (for above and below ground) to protect the outside flange bolts and to interface with the Innercoat wax at the flange gap seam.

Trenton Fill-Pro PM-GP™ Profiling Mastic is a specially formulated, moldable mastic for use with Trenton Wax-Tapes® and Wax-Tape Primers. FillPro PM-GP incorporates a blend of petrolatum and polymer-based components to form a cold-applied, self-adhesive and self-supporting mastic. FillPro PM-GP is compatible with all Trenton tapes and primers.

End Use

FillPro PM-GP Profiling Mastic is used to establish smooth profiles over irregularly shaped fittings, such as flanged joints and valves. Fillpro can be used in combination with Trenton Wax-Tapes® and primers to create an effective exterior corrosion coating for pipelines and other metal substrates.

Application Procedures

Surface Preparation:

Inspect surface to be protected and remove all loose rust, scale, paint, ice, dirt and other foreign matter with a wire brush – per SSPC SP2 (ISO St 2). Wipe surface dry, if possible.

Product Application:

Apply a thin film of Wax-Tape Primer. If the surface is wet, cold or rusty, rub and press on primer to displace moisture and ensure adhesion. Apply Fill-Pro PM-GP directly by hand working the material onto the metal. Continue applying the material in and around the voids, contours and crevices building up an even surface all around the fitting or structure. Then overwrap the entire application with Trenton’s Wax-Tapes®.

Fill-Putty™ is an anticorrosive moldable filler material used to even the contours of irregular fittings and surfaces. Once applied, it is overwrapped with Trenton’s Wax-Tapes®.

Application

Brush or wipe the surfaces clean of dirt, loose rust or old coating and other foreign materials. Apply Fill-Putty directly by hand working the material onto the metal surface ensuring that the putty is “wetting” and adhering to the surface. Continue applying the material in and around the voids, contours and crevices so as to build up an even surface all around the fitting or structure. Then overwrap the entire application with Trenton’s Wax-Tapes.

Pre-Con™ is a liquid casing water conditioner for pipeline casings. It consists of "wetting" and filming agents, vapor phase inhibitors, alkaline media additives and antibacterial conditioners.

End Use

Pre-Con is poured into the casing prior to the installation of Trenton Fill-Coat® casing filler. The method of using these two materials together is a Trenton Corporation patented process*. Pre-Con conditions the water accumulated in the casing so that any small amounts of water that may be entrapped after installation of Fill-Coat casing filler are inhibited and no corrosion should occur.

Application Procedures

Prior to the filling operation, Pre -Con is poured directly into the casing through the casing vent and mixes with any water accumulated inside the casing. The casing can then be filled with Trenton Fill-Coat Casing Filler.

Packaging

Pre-Con™ is packaged in one-gallon pails or it is provided in bulk at the job site when Trenton crews install Fill-Coat® casing filler.

Water or water vapor is present in most pipeline casings making possible galvanic corrosion of the carrier pipe. Also, a “water short” can occur through the water in the casing, allowing cathodic current to flow through the water and on to the pipe in the casing. Under these circumstances, cathodic current is increased and the casing is sacrificed as well. Casing filler prevents this from occurring. Further, in some instances, the pipe may be shorted to the casing through a direct metal-to-metal contact and filling the casing might correct this condition on some occasions. In any case, it is difficult, if not impossible to cathodically protect pipe in casing, so that filling of the casing will protect the pipe from corrosion regardless of the circumstances.

Fill-Coat #1® is a low melt point, hot-installed petrolatum compound that sets up relatively firm at ground temperatures commonly found in normal pipeline operations. It has good “wetting” and adhesion characteristics and prevents possible corrosion of pipe in casings. Fill-Coat #1 meets the Department of Transportation requirements for shorted casings, and is expertly installed from readily available inventories by Trenton personnel.

End Use

Fill-coat #1 is used to displace water that may otherwise be present in the annular space between a casing and internal carrier pipe.

Application Procedures

Fill-Coat #1 is delivered to the casing site in Trenton insulated tank trucks and pumped through an opening at the top of the casing vent until the annulus between the casing and the carrier pipe is filled.

Material is pumped directly into the casing from Trenton’s heated tankers.

Fill-Coat #2® is designed to be installed cold out of a 55 gallon drum for small quantity requirements. It remains in a firm gel consistency at ground temperatures commonly found in normal pipeline operations.

End Use

Fill-Coat #2 is used to fill the annular space between the pipeline casing and the carrier pipe. It displaces water that may be present and it prevents water from re-entering thereby mitigating any further corrosion.

Application Procedures

Fill-Coat #2 is shipped directly to the jobsite in 55 gallon drums and pumped (at temperatures above 55°F) by air driven mastic pump directly into the casing through one casing vent until it flows from the opposite vent. Fill-Coat #2 can be heated and pumped as a liquid if desired. A 10:1 ratio mastic pump with follower plate is available from Trenton on a rental basis.

Fill-Coat #6® is a cold-installed/high temperature petroleum based casing filler compound that can be installed at ambient temperature as low as 50°F (10°C) with portable pumps. The product is used in bridge abutment casings, and it can be used in casings with elevated temperatures.

End Use

Fill-Coat #6 is used to fill the annulus of gas distribution bridge abutment casings. it prevents corrosion by filling the void in the casing annulus. In addition, new water is prevented from entering the gas-filled casing. Applications include aboveground cased pipe (like bridge abutment casings).

Application Procedures

Fill-Coat #6 can be installed by a variety of portable air powered mastic pumps (1, 5, or 50 gallon capacity). The material is pumped into the annulus of the casing until the casing is full. The casing ends can be sealed with Trenton Fill-Putty™, Trenton #2 Wax-Tape® or an epoxy filler once it is full.
