Geo-Phones are listening devices that employ a super-sensitive probe that is able to transmit sound when placed into the earth's surface or againts the wall of a pipe. This is an ideal listening device when trying to track a pipeline pig.

Geo-Phones have been successful at picking up the sound of a pig hitting weld beads from as much as five miles away.
